The Bear, Therapist Reacts Fishes Episode (Season 2 Episode 6) Toxic Family Dynamics?
Переглядів 3,1 тис.Місяць тому
The Bear, Fishes, is an intense episode. Fishes gives us an insight into why the characters in The Bear think feel and behave the way they do throughout the series. I can't help but feel that Carmie is always trying to be the best he can be for his mum and this comes out in his perfectionist nature in the kitchen. So we can learn a lot about ourselves by watching The Bear. Ask yourself how do y...

Character change and finally finding a place where someone belongs in their path, don’t what they’re good at. I believe the mother is bipolar (tv version at least) and has self medicated with alcohol. I think there is a good chance Michael is also bipolar. Everyone has so much anxiety and depression and baseline sense of dread from living in this household with an untreated bipolar mother where chaos is the norm and a crisis can appear out of nowhere at any minute that they are barely functional. Definitely glad that sugar and Carmey are going to Al- Anon meetings.

    Family gatherings are a big "OH SHIT" day for me. It's multiple multiple personalities just in a single room/space for a hour+, its draining for me. I have a grandmother who after 30+ years of being around her, I finally understand that she has the smallest little remarks that slowly dig its way into you. It becomes a "oh, its nice comment" to a "oh... she was taking a dig at me in the nicest way possible" She relates her favorite grand children's accomplishments to how bad you are in her eyes. it's just so draining.

    This was a great reaction, but I have to disagree about Jimmy. I don't think he was being smug or power-tripping with Richie. I think he doesn't trust that Richie would do a good job (maybe because of things from the past that we're unaware of) and doesn't want to risk sticking out his neck for him because of previous behavior or maybe behaviors that he (thinks that he) currently sees.

      I think it's more borderline personality disorder. With bipolar the moods last for days, usually weeks, before swinging. The moods don't swing so steeply throughout a single day. (I could be incorrect; this is just an educated guess from personal experience)

    • @salemoh9759
      @salemoh9759 Місяць тому

      @@EdenMcCoy-rt9hp yeah but you see in one minute she is laughing then arguing then sad and then angry and the alcohol is not good, you see when Nat is putting the alcohol away

    • @EdenMcCoy-rt9hp
      @EdenMcCoy-rt9hp Місяць тому

      @salemoh9759 you're exactly right about that, but her sharp mood swings seem to happen almost every other hour throughout the day as portrayed in this episode, which seems to line up more with a borderline personality disorder than a bipolar disorder...especially since the down swings we witness are accompanied with manipulative and narcissistic tactics (like constantly complaining that no one lifts a finger to help despite almost everyone offering to help, and her constantly telling them she doesn't need it). Bipolar disorder involves mood swings that are more severe, and they don't often switch that quickly. Like, a depressive state of bipolar could confine the person to bed for weeks on end, without speaking to anyone. None of my opinions above are for sure a fact and I completely understand that I could be totally wrong. It's just a pretty educated guess based on my own knowledge and experiences lol

Diana still refused all the help that was offered . Diana sounds like she is reading her explanation from a Self help book , nt exactly her own individual story .

    I’ve been having so many nightmares every single night, sometimes multiple dreams a night and I hate them. I haven’t even watched anything that could draw connections to said nightmares. My only thing that is big is when I’ve had these bad dreams is because I’ve stayed up very very late. It’s always appears to be monsters/ghosts or something that appears for a second or so knowing it’s about to happen andi have to prepare for it. I keep having the same scenario happen like over 15+ times. But the thing is I don’t even feel any anxiety or nervousness at all in the real world

    This relationship is so problematic. Tony constantly hides crucial events, like killing friends and even relatives, and misleads Dr. Melfi about his life, rendering therapy useless. What's worse, he uses insights from Melfi's knowledge of the human condition to create even more sophisticated tactics to manipulate and hurt others. By the end, you see Melfi trying to confirm her suspicion that helping Tony is only making him a more sophisticated criminal. It's clear that it's time to end the relationship, just like she decided at the end of season 1. However, for the sake of the show's narrative, the writers had Melfi accept Tony back.

You also said Diane wanted an adventure in Eastern Europe but it was more about doing something meaningful. They build up the whole thing over the first half of season 2.
